A Formula 1 Grand Prix race is on many people’s bucket lists, and is one of the most exciting motorsport events in the world to attend. As you are packing for your trip to attend a Formula 1 race, you might be wondering what you should pack to wear. For your Formula 1 outfit, you will want to consider:
- Dress for the weather.
- Bring a hat.
- Wear shoes good for walking all day.
- Grab gear to cheer on your team!
- If you don’t have a team, wear a shirt with the track’s name.
Grand Prix Racewear: Dress for the Track
When deciding what to wear to a Formula 1 Grand Prix race, the biggest things to keep in mind is to dress for the weather. For most common spectators, you will spend the entire event outdoors. No matter the temperature, you will want to make sure to wear sunscreen and bring a hat to your formula 1 race. You can buy caps supporting our team or the track the day of hte Grand Prix race as well.
You can also expect to do a lot of walking when attending a Formula 1 Grand Prix race. You’ll have to get to your seat on foot, so you will want shoes that are good for being on your feet all day. The Formula 1 race tracks are huge, so expect that it will take a while to get from your parking spot to where you need to be.
You will also want to take into consideration the track. If you are sitting in the stands, you may be more directly in the sun. When our group attended the Formula 1 race in Austin, we had general admission tickets. This meant that when deciding on what to wear to the Formula 1 race in Austin, we had to take into consideration that we would be in the dirt. We were given the heads up that the general admission areas get pretty muddy, so we all wore boots or waterproof shoes.
What to Wear to the Formula 1 Race
Most people who attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix race will wear clothes that align with the teams they are cheering for. If the group that you are going to the race with is cheering for a specific team, it is easy to purchase gear ahead of time to show your support. Additionally, if you are able to go to the qualifying races the day before, you will have the option to purchase Formula 1 team gear while at the track.
If you are not cheering for a particular team, you will also see many people wearing shirts and hats supporting different Formula 1 tracks. When we attended the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Austin, I bought a Circuit of the Americas hat and wore an outfit matching my hat on race day. When we attended the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal, I purchased a Circuit Gilles Villeneuve t-shirt to wear. Most of the guys in our group wore Circuit of the Americas shirts to the Montreal race as well!
What to Bring to a F1 Race
You can bring bags or backpacks into most Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Besides the hat and sunscreen mentioned earlier, consider packing snacks and water. You can purchase food on the track, but there will always be an extra charge. I now bring my hydration pack, so that I can stay hydrated all day.
F1 Race Day Outfits
No matter what, you will want to be comfortable. Nobody really cares what you are wearing, so dress for the weather. If you want to get into the Grand Prix race spirit, you will see most spectators wearing team colors or a shirt from the track. Be prepared to walk, be prepared to bake in the sun, but most importantly be prepared to have fun!
