My car guy and I got married in June 2017 after dating for seven years – and it was definitely one of the best days ever! We had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Texas with all of our friends and family in attendance. I love to craft, so of course of our wedding there were so many things that I wanted to make by hand. All of our flowers were cut with my Cricut, and our signage and invitations were designed by me in Photoshop.
Since we are a pretty car-centered family, it made sent to add a few automotive references to add a touch of personality to our wedding. I was really excited for all of our subtle car themed wedding decorations, many which are listed below.
Starting Line Wedding Sign
For the welcome sign at our wedding, we had a print out that said “Welcome to the Starting Line”. I thought that this would be a cute way to start this exciting chapter in our lives.
Car Themed Wedding Table
As I have a VW Beetle obsession, one of the easiest way to work in a car-theme was with the table numbers. For all of our table numbers, I cut paper to match the stripes on Herbie the Love Bug, but with our wedding colors of green, red, and gold.
Tires Wedding Cake
My husband and I had ice cream cake, but we had fake styrofoam cakes on display, which I decorated with one of my bridesmaids. For one of my cakes, we did our best to tackle a tire cake! The cake ended up being in rough shape, but I thought it was hilarious and was still proud of it. We went ahead and put it on display as our groom’s cake, topped with models of our current cars.
Spark Plug Boutonnieres
One of my favorite car-themed pieces were the boutonnieres that I made for my husband, groomsmen, and male family members. Each boutonniere had a spark plug, a paper rose, and some leaves similar to those in my wedding bouquet.
Subtle Car Themed Wedding Decorations
There were many other ideas that I saw online to make your wedding car themed. While not pictured here, we also had car-themed invitations and guestbook. There are many ways to work in gears or tires into your decorations, with your table decor and stationary being the easiest way to start.
